More tips on health.  Please keep in mind that the tips I write are not completely a recipe kind, they are mainly motivational. I chose to do this because there are lot of recipe kind of tips already available online commercially and very few of the kind I write which I believe are equally important.

after a long nice summer I am updating my website.  I added several inspiring quotes I collected from Temple CDS.  My friend Shiva happened to be working there this summer and by chance I found some nice quotes posted in the office.  Inspiring phrases are to be pondered about to get the actual inspiration or motivation.  In fact pondering is essential to get insights into anything not just phrases:)

thoughts updated, a picture added.  academics at Temple updated.

updated: 11/1/2004

i uploaded some pictures and thoughts, inspiring phrases (based on booklet "Surviving a Crisis or a Trajedy" I found at Center for Jewish Life at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ) and academics at Temple.  Also I updated my activities.  I will try to update my activities regularly from now.

Recently I attended GPBA (Greater Philadelphia Bioinformatics Alliance) conference at Penn State, Great Valley Corporate Center.  I had a very good experience there.  The small campus was very good and the presentations were totally in bioinformatics and the hot topic being Microarrays.  I had little knowledge in those areas but I had a very good chance of observing certain basic dynamics that are needed for successful research career.

I attended EITC (Emerging Information Technology Conference) 2004 conference at Princeton University, NJ.  The campus was simple awesome and beautiful.  The silence of the campus attracted me.  The conference itself was very good.  There were many parallel technical sessions being conducted.  I attended presentation by Ruby Lee of PALMS (Princeton Architecture Labs for Multimedia and Security) where the research was focused on improving security by improving the architecture of the processor by having additional security beneficial primitives.  There is also research being conducted in improving multimedia features in small mobile processors.

I also attended the presentation by Dr. Zoran Obradovic on applying data mining techniques to study protein disorder in which questions like "Can protein disorder be predicted?", "How common is the protein disorder?", "Can datasets for protein study be improved?" etc.. were explored and successfully answered.

I attended the presentation titled “Modular Sensor Architecture (MSA) Design for On-Demand Sensor Based Distributed Computing” by Shu-Ping Chang, IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.  The presentation was about research of how to standardize today's sensor based security technology.  The research seems to take the dynamics followed by the computer network protocol research where interoperability and standardization played an important role in the success of the technology.

Then the presentation on “Advanced Ad-hoc Network System” by Chien-Chung Shen, University of Delaware was also very good. He discussed how using the swarm intelligence (motivated from social insects like ants) can be used to sub-optimize the routing paths in an ad-hoc network.  That was a nice presentation.

I am also planning to attend "Theory day" at New York University in a couple of weeks.
