Our Research

The UW Well-Being Study investigates the impact of long-term meditation practice on the brain and body. The Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the Waisman Center has partnered with the Center for Sleep and Consciousness to better understand how mindfulness and compassion meditation practices affect emotion, attention, sleep and stress. This work builds on over twenty years of collaborative research and is one of the most comprehensive scientific investigations in meditation ever undertaken.
